There are a number of ways you can help keep the Orangeburg County Fine Arts Center a viable and beneficial community resource.
Cash gifts, in any amount provide immediate essential support for the Arts Center. If you itemize, such outright monetary donations are deductible from your federal income taxes up to 50% of your adjusted gross income. Be sure to check with your financial advisor for specifics. Checks may be made payable to the Orangeburg County Fine Arts Center.
A gift of stock or other securities to the Arts Center can offer significant tax advantages. When you give securities that have appreciated in value, you are relieved from the burden of all capital gains and are still entitled to take a tax deduction for the full fair market value of the asset at the time of the gift. Be sure to check with your financial advisor before making a gift of stock.
One of the simplest ways to make a gift to the Arts Center is through your will. Bequests to the Arts Center are entirely free from federal, estate and inheritance taxes. The value of your donation is deductible up to any amount in determining your taxable estate, and your gift will lower the taxable portion of your estate and resulting taxes.
If you wish, your bequest can create a permanent memorial to whomever you would like to honor via an establishment of a named fund. Your gift during your lifetime will likewise reduce your estate and inheritance taxes by eliminating the donated case or other set from your estate, and it will also produce the income tax benefits mentioned previously.
If you wish to enhance the value of your gift, you are encouraged to contact your employer to determine whether the company offers a matching gift program.
Gifts-in-kind allow you to make the Arts Center a gift of services or equipment. In the past, friends of the Arts Center have contributed such items as office furniture, and computer equipment. Other have offered their services in landscaping, building maintenance, etc.
